Robert C. “Bob” Brown was born in April 1959, the firstborn son of Bill and Nora Brown. Raised in a traditional West Virginia home, he was the eldest of four brothers. His name honors both sides of his family, “Robert” from his maternal grandfather and “Clay” from his paternal grandfather. While formally known as Robert C. Brown, he writes under the pen name R. Clay.
Robert is a Christian writer, teacher, and speaker whose work reflects decades of biblical study and ministry experience. He was baptized at Marmet Christian Church in Marmet, WV, at age sixteen and graduated from East Bank High School in East Bank WV, before attending Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky. He earned a BS degree in Ministerial Studies in 1981, with a major in Biblical Studies and minors in Preaching and Church Administration. Following graduation, he was ordained to the Christian Ministry and served for several years as an evangelist and pulpit minister with congregations in Ohio and West Virginia.
Over the course of his career, Bob also spent twenty‑five years in the insurance industry, working as an agent, agency owner, and later as a finance department manager for a major insurance company. As retirement approached, he began organizing and preparing the extensive library of sermons, teaching series, and written works he had created over more than forty years of full-and part-time ministry.
This effort led to the formation of First Eagle Group Consulting LLC and its subsidiary FEG Asset Management LLC, which manages and publishes Robert’s intellectual property, including his teaching materials, books, and creative projects. Among these works are the e‑book series We War Not and the song Not My Pew, both completed in 2025.
In June 2026, after 17 years Bob retired from the insurance industry. To ensure his creative and ministry projects continued without interruption, he licensed his works to FEG Asset Management LLC, which oversees publication, distribution, and ongoing development. The redesigned website and the forthcoming release of We War Not reflect the efforts of the FEG management team.
Bob’s perspective is shaped by a lifetime of studying Scripture both within and outside traditional church structures. This independent vantage point informs his writing, which often explores the experiences of believers who do not identify with a specific denomination or congregation. He believes many such individuals seek affirmation, encouragement, and community, and he hopes his work offers them clarity, peace, and a deeper understanding of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
